Local businesses are the backbone of our economy. Our community needs to be a great place to run a business or find a job. Paul will continue to oppose needless tax and fee increases, and he will fight to help small businesses thrive through support programs and cutting red tape.
Paul is committed to facing the homelessness and addiction crisis head on, and he understands this issue requires us to work together to find solutions that are unique to each community. He will prioritize increased treatment for mental health and addiction support for community members battling addiction, and he is committed to making our streets safer for everyone by getting people into safe, stable housing.
Paul served on his local school board and is a teacher at Chemeketa Community College. He understands how important it is to provide more training options to folks who are looking for a new career, and he is committed to creating more pathways to college and skills training programs that people can afford. He will work to make smart investments that are proven to help lower class sizes, increase graduation rates, and expand summer programs.
A safe community is a thriving community. As a former volunteer firefighter, Paul knows response times can be the difference between life and death, which is why he’s leading Oregon’s readiness effort and cutting bureaucratic red tape to lessen the impacts of natural disasters when they happen. Paul will continue working to secure more resources for fire and emergency services and additional funding for police training and equipment.
Paul is helping working families’ dollars stretch further. He will continue to fight to make college more affordable, expand workforce pathways to higher paying jobs, and work to provide housing assistance to renters and landlords.
The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade has made it more important than ever to protect the right to choose in Oregon. Paul has voted time and again to protect access to abortion and is proud to be the only candidate in this race endorsed by Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon.
As a veteran himself with more than 20 years in uniform, Paul knows what our veterans need when they return home. Paul is committed to improving and providing resources for our servicemen and servicewomen. His efforts led to a ballot measure that permanently sets aside 1.5% of all lottery revenue for veteran outreach and services.
